Welcome and Glueckauf to VDMA Mining
With an export quota amounting to 96 per cent, mining technology is one of the most export oriented branches of the German engineering industry. VDMA Mining represents well-known, mainly medium-sized companies from the sectors open cast mining/materials handling, underground mining, mining processing technology and consulting, research and development.
145 companies merged in VDMA Mining representing more than 90 per cent of the entire trade volume.
Compared to the same period of the previous year, incoming orders are still well up. The same applies to sales. This development is all the more pleasing given that incoming orders in the industry as a whole are still declining.
The exhibition space was again smaller than two years ago. The organizer confirmed 10 percent more exhibitors. But for the 18 exhibitors in the German Pavilion, the AIMEX in Sydney was still satisfactory.
The VDMA survey on the business climate in China is currently taking place. We ask for active participation. VDMA Beijing Office and we will also be organising the "VDMA Mining China Management Meeting 2019" at Crown Plaza Beijing International Airport on 1 November on the occasion of the China Coal & Mining Expo.
Against the background of the 26th international trade fair Ugol Rossii & Mining, the event "Digitization in Mining - Perspectives of German-Russian Cooperation" took place on 5 June 2019 at the fair in Novokuznetzk.
At the summer meeting in June, the Executive Board appointed Robert Droogleever Fortuyn, Caterpillar Global Mining Europe GmbH, Lünen, and Ralf Petzold, Komatsu Germany, Düsseldorf, to the Executive Board to replace Klaus Ukens, Caterpillar Global Mining HMS GmbH, Dortmund who left the Board and Dr. Norbert Walther, Komatsu Mining Germany who retired.
Our working group OPC UA Mining, consisting of company representatives, VDMA Mining and international consultants, develops Companion Specifications for the three "use cases" longwall, mobile machine and conveying.
More than 360 participants informed themselves about current trends in the exploration of new raw material deposits, aspects of future mining - digital, automated, electrical, autonomous, safe - as well as developments in post-mining.
The Institute for Advanced Mining Technologies of RWTH Aachen University in cooperation with DMT GmbH und Co. KG and the VDMA Mining Association present the new edition of the “Forum Bergbau 4.0” with the "Smart Mining Conference". The conference will take place on 19 and 20 November 2019 in Aachen's Tivoli.
On 7 and 8 March, the fourth Building Material Plants Day was held in Frankfurt am Main. The burning topic for all participants was "Big Data". The building materials plant industry is also dominated by increasing digitalisation. Data collection, data evaluation, data use. How will companies cope with this in the future?
"Longwall" and "Mine Operations" were the topics at the 3rd meeting of our Working Group OPC UA Companion Specification. Individual scenarios were worked out in small groups to determine which machines have to exchange which data with which partners.
